Open Air with host David Latulippe:
Summer Performance Festival 9 ~ Sarah Bush Dance Project ~ Low Hanging Fruit ~ La Cage aux Folles
This week on Open Air, host David Latulippe has conversations with SAFEhouse Arts Executive Director Joe Landini about its ninth annual Summer Performance Festival, SPF9, currently at ODC Theater in San Francisco. SPF9 features ten programs over five days including ‘Reach’, a new piece by the Sarah Bush Dance Project, inspired by the lives & words of Isadora Duncan, Gertrude Stein & Ina Coolbrith, for which choreographer Sarah Bush joins us in the studio. Kelley Cutler, Human Rights organizer from the Coalition on Homelessness, and playwright Robin Bradford share details about ‘Low Hanging Fruit’, the story of four homeless women struggling to survive in a small tent encampment on LA’s Skid Row, presented in its San Francisco premiere by 3Girls Theatre Company, opening July 6. Plus, actor Clay David and founder of Bay Area Musicals (BAM), Matthew McCoy discuss the musical ‘La Cage aux Folles’, which closes BAM’s inaugural season.
This interview was originally heard live on Thursday afternoon, July 7 at 1pm.
