Sarah Bush Dance Project presents This Land: Oakland.
A paean to the beauty landscapes of Oakland is at the heart of “This Land: Oakland,” a new dance theater work that the Sarah Bush Dance Project presents on Sunday, May 22, at Laney College’s Odell Johnson Theater.
“Bringing the Outside In” is the subtitle for Bush’s multimedia collage, including her trademark exuberant and visceral choreography, video and sound recordings, poetry and live music by gina Breedlove and Melanie DeMore.
The five parts of “This Land: Oakland” take the audience on a journey from the shores of Lake Merritt to the marshland of the Martin Luther King Jr. Shoreline, with stops at Oakland’s Redwood Regional Park, the burbling Woodminster Cascade in Joaquin Miller Park and the Sibley Volcanic Regional Preserve.
