Thank You!
Thank you to all of you for your support of SBDP in 2018 and special shout out to Meriama Fund for their $5k year-end matching challenge and to those of you whose December gifts meant we met it! ❤️
“Your work inspires and delights — and makes people think. It’s an unusually wonderful cocktail of beauty and daring, and a supple physicality that takes a story and makes it magical and meaningful.” — Meriama Fund

In 2019 SBDP will be bringing stories and histories to life with a series of site-specific dances celebrating Oakland’s LGBTQ history. And we need your help!
If you drew an Oakland map of important LGBTQ sites, what would you include?
We’ve teamed up with Audio Producer, Elena Botkin-Levy and the Oakland LGBTQ Center to record as many oral histories as we can! Starting this Saturday!
From Elena: LGBTQ Histories will preserve and document the people and places that tell the LGBTQ stories of the East Bay through recording oral histories and a publicly shared project.
Contact Elena to sign-up for a one-on-one facilitated audio interview taking place on either of the following dates:
January 26th at the Oakland LGBTQ Center
February 23rd at the Pacific Center
If you can’t make it to those sites or those days, Elena is up for making other arrangements.
From those recordings, Sarah will select 7 stories and sites in Oakland to create dance duets to be performed in September leading up to Oakland Pride. (With the permission and possible involvement of the storytellers.)
Please help us spread the word about this project by forwarding this email or inviting folks to the facebook event.
We look forward to hearing your stories, and making beautiful, daring dance together in this new year.
In celebration, love, gratitude & pride,
Sarah and SBDP
