Sarah Bush Dance Project will perform in Masterworks Chorale’s presentation of Carmina Burana in San Mateo, March 22nd & 23rd.
Carmina Burana by Carl Orff
March 22 at 8pm & March 23 at 4pm | San Mateo, CA
One of the most popular choral works ever composed, Orff’s spectacular Carmina Burana deals with fate, drinking, and love—it is full of the essence of humanity. Come join us as we sing this dazzling setting of the irreverent medieval poems called Carmina Burana.
Carmina Burana is the Latin for “Songs from Beuern,” a group of poems found at the monestary, Benediktbeuern in Bavaria. The poems were written in around 1200 by a group of monks and clergy and are mostly bawdy and satirical. Carl Orff set 24 of the poems to music in 1938, and the work has become a standard in the choral repertoire.
Our very special 50th anniversary presentation will feature a full orchestra and a host of special guests, including Dan Glover, pianist, the Chamber Singers of Hillsdale High School, the Ragazzi Boys Chorus, and the Valley Concert Chorale. We are especially thrilled to have the Sarah Bush Dance Project join us, helping to make this a multimedia presentation that will be truly spectacular!
